Arnolds is a charming hotel in Dunfanaghy County Donegal, Ireland; family owned and operated. The lobby is warm and inviting with a fire, comfortable chairs that just beg you to sit and relax, and internet! It was very cozy of an evening to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, the newspaper and conversation. Up the stairs and down the hallway was my room (#38) which looked out across the street to the water. It was very comfortable, but honestly the only time I spent in it was showering and sleeping! For those keeping score, bathroom ensuite, hairdryer and TV. The hallways are dotted with antiques, fresh flowers and paintings by local artists, including the King of Tory Island himself! The hotel staff were friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and easily equalled (and many times surpassed!) that of any 5-star hotel at which I've stayed. The food in the restaurant was a revelation; particularly after the ho-hum meals I had in Dublin. It was delicious, fresh and plentiful. My greatest struggle each evening was whether to enjoy what I had the night before, or end up discovering a new favorite. Decisions, decisions! All the fresh fish, homemade desserts and wonderful soups completely spoiled me for my return home.

I spent a week at this lovely hotel on a 7 Day Horse Riding adventure and it was the most wonderful vacation I ever had. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and the food was excellent. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The hotel offered many cozy places to relax, read or talk to other guests. The turf fire was a real treat. I stayed at Arnolds because of the 7 Day Trail Riding Holiday tour but I wouldn't hesitate to go back to stay at the hotel for its own sake. In fact, I am hoping to convince my husband it would be a wonderful place for a second honeymoon! (The horses would be quite a distraction though!)

We arrived at Arnold's hotel on September 19th. The only thing I regret is not getting out and taking walks immediately. The views are fantastic, the shoreline so close by I could watch the tide come in and out of the bay. I could see people going horseback riding from my room as well. The hotel was spotlessly clean and everyone was most helpful and nice. The food was FANTASTIC! They have wireless internet that is quite fast and very dependable. The phone calls from my room to the states were very inexpensive. I can't find a flaw with any part of my stay. I would stay there again for certain. The horseback riding offered from the hotel is absolutely top notch. The horses are wonderfully trained and very responsive. The views and sights that you can see from taking a half day ride are priceless. Dunfanaghy Stables and Arnolds hotel are a winning combination and I highly recommend them both!
